Job Introduction

We're looking for a multi-utility project manager to cover our sites and colleagues in the North West of England. This is a great opportunity to work with a dynamic team and supportive business. You will will manage the delivery of Multi Utility projects by cost effectively deploying resources available to satisfy the Client and the Asset Owner requirements whilst working within the commercial and corporate governance frameworks to maximise the business profitability.


Key accountabilities

 

Deliver key performance targets for the construction and asset adoption process covering:

  •  Standards of service
  •  Cash flow & profit – Ensuring costs are in line with budgets.
  • HSE monitoring and reporting
  • Compliance with WIRS, GIRS and NERS and ensure updates are briefed out.
  • Operational performance monitoring through project audits and system processes. 
  • Attend stakeholder meetings as required.
  • Have a full understanding of expected performance objectives, continually striving to exceed all business performance targets.
  • Meet with Client and Local Authority representatives to agree extent of works and agree programme for completion and ensure all permits are in place for planned works.
  • Co-ordination with the DNO’s, iDNO’s. Water Authorities and NAV partners to ensure works are notified, completed and point of connections are completed in a timely manner in line with the clients programme.
  • To coordinate, despatch and manage work to operational staff to maximise the resource availability, minimising cost whilst maximising efficiency, ensuring that works are properly planned and that appropriate control measures are implemented and the personnel involved are adequately instructed, trained and supervised.
  • Procure all required resources for commencement of works, procurement of materials, sub-contractors, plant, highways permits and traffic management.
  • Attend sites during the construction phase to ensure works are being completed in accordance with legislation while ensuring engineers are undertaking works in line with business processes.
  • To ensure accurate records of work activities have been completed and returned by the engineers.
  • Undertake the audit and site inspection process and that all hazard reports, near miss reports and non-conformances are reported and closed out and that any recommended actions are completed.
  • Complete tool box talks with the engineers to update on legislative regulations and business process updates.
  • Review and approve operative timesheets and annual leave requests.
  • Manage short term sickness and unacceptable levels of attendance, report, manage and action the groups sickness management policy. Manage the grievance and disciplinary process of operatives.
  • Review sub-contractor quotations to ensure they are in line with your requirements and the budget and submit for approval.
  • Carry out assessments of Operational Teams competencies and ensure all records associated with the assessment processes are maintained.
  • Liaise with all stakeholders to increase profitability by utilising sound engineering and technical skills to deliver maximum return on investment, commercial and entrepreneurial skills to identify and capture new and profitable business opportunities.
  • Follow the processes that are in place to:
        deliver projects safely, on time and profitably
        ensure that design and construction standards are imposed in order to achieve satisfactory asset adoption
        ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to at all times
        ensure technical specifications are adhered to for design and installation
    .
  • Understand the clear focus of suppliers regarding customer service, business objectives and achieving / exceeding Energy Asset’s standard of service promoted at monthly / weekly meetings
  • Manage contractual issues for all projects, both incoming contracts from clients and outgoing contracts with contractors.
  • Provide to all stakeholders monthly, reports on audits completed,  customer service, project/cost performance.
     

What it takes to become one of our Project Managers

 

  • Knowledge of current Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and relevant HS&E management experience.
  • A strong understanding of the Lloyds accreditation within construction and design.
  • Commercial awareness, understanding of costs versus revenue and how to manage them.
  • NRSWA Supervisor accredited
  • EUSR SHEA Passport (Gas, Water & Electric)
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of asset adoption process for DNO’s, iDNO’s, Water Companies, GT and iGT’s.
  • A knowledge of the construction of infrastructure and design for gas, water and electric.
  • Comprehensive understanding of water & electric non-contestable works and the host utility requirements.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the business.
  • Previous experience in the utility sector.
  • Able to train and coach Operations Teams
  • Ability to deal with internal and external customers.
  • NERS, WIRS and GIRS project management within construction and design.
  • Understand CDM regulations within Utilities.
  • Ability / suitably experienced to undertake high level audits and inspections
